Know when your client opens a proposal

Last updated 2026-06-03

From sent to signed, at a glance

When you send a proposal for sign-off, it moves through three stages — and Drift Catch tracks each one for you so you're never left wondering whether your client saw it.

  • Sent — you've emailed the sign-off link to your client.
  • Viewed — your client opened the link for the first time.
  • Accepted — your client signed the scope and the work is locked in.

How "Viewed" works

The moment your client opens the sign-off link we sent them, we record it and drop a note in your notification bell: "Acme Co opened your proposal." It's a quiet heads-up that the ball is in their court — useful for knowing when a follow-up is worth your time, and when it just hasn't landed yet.

This is recorded once, on the first open. We don't track every time they reopen the link, and we don't count devices — just the first view, so the signal stays clean.

Where you'll see the status

  • Your notification bell lights up the first time a client opens a proposal. The bell and the view tracking behind it are included on Solo and every plan above it — they're the core of this feature.
  • The Pipeline board is a Pro feature. If you're on Pro or above, it adds a small status pill on bid-sent cards that are linked to a project — Awaiting view, Proposal viewed, or Proposal accepted — so you can read the room across your whole pipeline at a glance. On Solo you still get every view in your notification bell; the Pipeline board itself is where the pill lives, so it comes with a Pro plan.

The stale-proposal nudge

If a proposal you sent hasn't been opened after three days, we send you a private nudge in your bell: "Acme Co has not opened your proposal yet." It's a gentle reminder to check in, sent once per proposal so it never turns into nag.

This nudge is for you alone. We never email your client a "you haven't opened this" message — whether and when to follow up is your call, not ours.

Turning it on or off

You're always in control. Open Settings → Notifications and find the Proposal viewed row. Choose where it lands — your bell, your email, both, or off. Changes apply to every proposal you send from now on.

What you need

Proposal status tracking is included on Solo and every plan above it. It works on any proposal you send for sign-off — nothing to switch on.
